Alex & Gina | The Patrick Haley Mansion

Alex and Gina first met in college. They both attended The University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, and over the next four years, they became the best of friends. They even studied abroad together in Rome, and decided in their senior year of college that there was something more than a friendship.

Fast forward to November 6th, 2016. That's when we first met Alex and Gina. He surprised the love of his life with the most romantic proposal, EVER! And we were privileged to be a part of the surprise! CLICK HERE to check out how it all began ... and then be sure to come back here to check out their gorgeous wedding day! :)

Alex and Gina were married on January 13th, 2018 in Gina's hometown, Joliet, Illinois. It was a beautiful winter day and they married at the beautiful St. Joesph Catholic Church in Downtown Joliet. It was the kind of church that reminds you of the cathedrals in Europe. When you walk in, you're taken to another place; It truly was breathtaking.

The reception was held at The Patrick Haley Mansion. It is one of the most beautiful venues; it's full of such nostalgia and wonderful details. Not to mention the staff were incredibly kind, and awesome to work alongside of.

There were many beautiful details that Gina and Alex included in this beautiful celebration, that highlighted not only their time together, but also Gina's Italian heritage.

They chose the black beauty rose as their main flower, to pay tribute to Gina's late grandmother. She also wrapped her grandmother's rosary around the bouquet, which is an Italian tradition.

Once you get down to the reception photos, you'll see a beautiful, amazing tower of cannoli, and small cake, which when we saw that, I'm pretty sure my sister and I (and maybe everyone there) said "Holy Cannoli"! HAHA, but really. It was an amazing and creative take on a traditional wedding cake. The small cake that sat on top of the tower read: “Ti amo da qui ... alla fine del mondo ... di nuove qui ... all infinito”, which translates to: “I love you from here ... to the end of the world ... here again ... to infinity”. Both Gina and Alex studied in Rome, and while there, they came across graffiti along the Tiber River, which had this beautiful quote. We love that they included this on their beautiful day.

When it was time for Alex and Gina to dance their first dance, as husband and wife, Gina's dad, Mike and four of her cousins played "Pistol" by Dustin Kensrue. It was so beautifully played and wow! They are quite the musicians! And for the father/daughter dance, Gina and Mike choreographed the most epic dance and they absolutely killed it!

EVERYONE got on the dance floor during the Tarantella, which is a beautiful, Italian folk-dance! It got the dance party lifted off with a bang! Which brings us to the amazing entertainment for the evening ... The Walk-ins! These guys were so incredibly talented, entertaining and so kind! We loved working with them and hope that our paths cross again.

We cannot say enough good things about this special day, and these special people. Some of the kindest souls you could ever meet. Congratulations Alex and Gina! We are so humbled to have been able to be a part of your amazing day!

Scott & Jen | Four Winds Field

Scott and Jen were married on a crisp fall day in October. The day started with a torrential downpour and ended with an equally impressive torrential downpour.

Their ceremony was meant to be outdoors, but as the day transpired, there was some certainty that an outdoor wedding just wasn’t going to be possible on this day.

To most couples, this would be devastating, but Scott and Jen, and the rest of their family and friends embraced it all. They embraced the rain. They embraced the changes they had to make for their ceremony. But more so, they embraced every last moment. And despite the gloomy day, nothing could diminish the love that shined so BRIGHT between these two wonderful humans, who managed to find each other in this crazy world.

It was a perfectly, imperfect day, and we were so darn grateful to be a part of it.

Jake & Kaylea | The Milestone Barn

We headed to Michigan for Jake & Kaylea's beautiful country wedding at the gorgeous Milestone Barn in Bannister, MI. Only 50 minutes from Lansing, MI and about an hour and half from Grand Rapids, MI! We never shot at this barn before and absolutely fell in love with it!

I met Jake and Kaylea a year ago in Grand Rapids when I photographed their engagement session. These two are awesome in front of the camera and were so great to work with! Check out their engagement session here and learn more about Jake and Kaylea!

These two had planned to get married in the fall to avoid the heat but being that the weather sometimes seems to play games with us, it was the HOTTEST day of the year. Pushing nearly 100! Despite the blazing temps, Jake and Kaylea's day was so beautiful. The Milestone Barn was a perfect backdrop for their pure Michigan country wedding! Check out their wedding day slideshow here!

Brittany & Josh | Crystal Mountain

We headed up north to the beautiful Crystal Mountain in Thompsonville, MI for Brittany and Josh's lovely fall wedding. They said their "I Do's" at the Michigan Legacy Art Park next door to Crystal Mountain. It was the perfect backdrop for these nature loving soulmates. Their wedding was filled with sweet moments and a lot of of love! Congrats to Brittany & Josh!

Sara & Kris | Bread & Chocolate | Goshen, IN

We met Sara a few years ago, after she contacted us to photograph some headshots for her portfolio. She is a brilliant actress, and an absolutely gorgeous person, inside and out! So we were super excited when she contacted us about photographing her wedding!

But first thing's first ... the engagement! :) We loved learning how Kris popped the question during their engagement session at the Round Barn Winery in Baroda, MI! After dating for over six years, wedding plans were always in the back of their minds, and September 22nd was the date that just stuck out as THE date. Kris wanted the proposal to be an absolute surprise, and he sure did pull it off! And Sara couldn't have said it better! "Leading up to the proposal, Kris told me he had a special work event on 9/22/16, so I took the afternoon off work to join him. When I was all dressed up and ready to go, he played our favorite song, asked me to dance, then got down on one knee. Afterward, he surprised me with lunch at one of my favorite local restaurants. When we walked in, our families were waiting to celebrate with us!" The collective "awwwwww". We agree! Super sweet and super romantic!!!

Fast forward to September 22nd, 2017 - their wedding day at one of our VERY FAVORITE venues, EVER, Bread & Chocolate in Goshen, Indiana! It was one of the hottest September days we can remember, but what an absolutely amazing day it was! Sara said, "Our wedding day was full of love and laughter. We got married exactly one year to the day after the proposal, on the date we had always wanted. While it was the first day of fall, it happened to be unusually hot. Thankfully, we had both our ceremony and reception at Bread & Chocolate, and it was a dream. Our guests loved the beautiful venue, and they were so happy that they didn’t have to venture back out into the heat to travel to a second location. Our guests were complimentary towards all aspects of the day, from the venue and the catering, to the music and the flowers. It was the best day, and we had a blast dancing the night away with our loved ones!" We couldn't agree more! Grateful to have share in these beautiful moments with this absolutely beautiful couple!
