Garrett Family {Downtown Nashville, Tennessee}

Ok. So. This family. :) When we first met them in downtown Nashville, we knew we were going to have a blast adventuring around town with them! Cowboy boots, smiles and a whole lot of laughs ensued as we walked around various parts of the city, including a pedestrian only bridge! It's for foot traffic only, and perched at the top is a spot where the skyline is right in front of you, to marvel in the lights, in the sounds and just for a second, let it take you on a musical journey.

We are so grateful for adventures, that allow us to meet such wonderful people along the way.

Doyle Family | Lifestyle Session | South Bend, IN

Family time is the absolute best time, especially when you get to welcome a new addition into the family! And we just have to say ... lifestyle sessions are our absolute favorite! Getting the opportunity to come into your home, capturing your own environment, while enjoying precious moments together ... well, we couldn't ask for anything better!

I have loved getting to know the Doyle family over the past few years and was excited to get to meet - and photograph - their newest addition, with the whole family! There was a whole lot of love, and a whole lot of laughs and we couldn't be happier for their most beautiful new arrival.

Vinnedge Family {Pokagon State Park}

Fall is such a beautiful season. The weather begins its unpredictability, the leaves begin to fall, and the most gorgeous colors emerge.

Back in October, as autumn emerged in all its glory, we had the opportunity to photograph Alex, Kait and Avery at Pokagon State Park, in Angola, Indiana. (And special shout out to Kait's bestie, who was on hand for their photo session too, to help with the laughs!!!)

We've known Alex and Kait since 2013, when we were so blessed to document their wedding day! And sweet little Avery came along in 2014, and made this beautiful duo a family of three!

It's been an absolute privilege to watch this family grow, and they're now expecting baby number #2!

Seriously, some of the BEST people we know, and they are such incredible parents! Not to mention, they absolutely adore each other! They've become family to us and we are incredibly grateful that we've been a part of their lives for such brilliant moments.

Family Time: What to Expect

We just want to say a huge thank you for choosing Hey Sisters! Photography to capture your family moments!

To get the most out of your session, here’s what you can expect before, during and after your time with us!

After you’ve filled out our online contract (if we forgot to send that to you, you can fill it out here: and sent in your deposit, we can talk about the fun stuff! Like where you’d like your session to be! We are “on-location” photographers, which means we want to photograph your family doing what you love to do best! That can be spending time outdoors, at your favorite park, hiking a trail or two; around a campfire, toasting smores and telling stories, or maybe it’s at home, playing your favorite board game together … whatever it might be, we want to join in on your family fun! So let us know some of your ideas, or we can share some of ours and we’ll make an adventure to remember!

Don’t fret too much on what to wear. The BEST advice we can give is to wear what feels like you! But if you need some helpful ideas, you can check out our What to Wear blog HERE.

Be prepared to laugh! A lot. We like to bring out the silliness in the whole family, so bring your favorite jokes! And we’ll try to tell a few too! We like to shoot a mixture of posed and candid photos. Basically, you and your family doing what you do best, and enjoying all the moments in between. So we’ll pose you in a way that you’re able to interact with each other, and occasionally we’ll ask you to look at the camera! If you have little ones, we like to suggest bringing some of their favorite things! Maybe a favorite blankey, stuffed animal, a toy … some fruit snacks or a lollipop sometimes can help too!

We are documentary in our approach to photographing families. And really just want you to feel closer after your session is over! So we’ll ask you questions to interact together, and we’ll have you move a little too! It’s all about having fun together, and looking back on these photos, to remember exactly how you felt when taking them!

After your session, we like to post a little preview to Facebook and Instagram! So we’d love for you to connect with us on social media if you haven’t already! From there, it takes us, on average, two weeks to edit the remainder of your images. We’ll then upload them to a private, online gallery where you can view, share and download your images. If you are sharing your images on social media, we always appreciate a shout out! You can also print your images as well, and if you use the code: 9EZJP, you’ll receive 20% off your order! But don’t worry, you don’t have to order from us! We’ll provide you a print release to print your images at a later time too! Our favorite online print lab is They are a professional photo lab, with comparable print prices from Walgreen’s or Walmart, but the quality is top notch! We are always on hand after your session as well, to answer any lingering questions you may have, or to help you with product/print orders, so call us or email us anytime!

We hope this helps, but feel free to ask us any and all questions you might have! We can’t wait for to capture your family.

Theo turns One! {The Buhrman Family} South Bend, Indiana

We met Rick, Chelsea, and Theo back in January whilst photographing them for a magazine feature about sweet Theo's time at Riley Children's Hospital. You can read more about their session here!

From the moment we met this family, we knew they were special. We are so thankful we got the chance to catch up with them again and capture this momentous occasion! The grace, devotion, and strength Rick and Chelsea find in each other is incredible. Theo has been through so much in his first year of life, but his parents would walk the world for him, and the smile permanently plastered on his cherub cheeks shows that he knows.

Theo is one! In many cultures, a baby's first birthday is a rite of passage. For the Buhrman family, this birthday is so much more than that. There was a time when tomorrow was not promised for Theo, but this brave little miracle turned days into weeks, weeks into months, and now months into YEARS!

Rick and Chelsea planned a very special get together for their little man. Photos of Theo's first year were proudly on display, and in the dining room sat a beautifully decorated cake and banner!  Some may wonder why the banner reads "Happy Day" rather than "Happy Birthday", but not us. Theo is a true example that every day is a gift, a true reason to celebrate.

Waiting for him on his high chair tray, Theo had a special birthday cupcake! This was his first taste of cake, and I think it is safe to say he loved it!

Theo's Aunt and Uncle joined in on the birthday celebration! It is obvious this little boy is so loved, and he loves so much in return. The way Theo looked at his uncle and snuggled into his aunt was absolutely precious!

We can't reiterate enough how grateful we are to have had the opportunity to capture these special memories for The Buhrman family! It has been our absolute pleasure to watch him grow this year as well as develop a true friendship with Rick and Chelsea.

If you would like to read more about Theo and his journey, Chelsea's blog can be found here! This momma is an inspiration, a true warrior, as well as an incredibly gifted writer.

Happy First Birthday, Theo! You are such a ray of sunshine, truly God's gift to this earth.
