Diamond Lake Family Photos | Southwest Lower Michigan Family Photography

Extended family sessions are super freakin’ fun, especially when they’re in a place that the family holds close to their heart!

This gorgeous family enjoyed some quality time together, during the Fourth of July weekend, at gorgeous Diamond Lake, in Southwest Lower Michigan.

You could say … they all have literally, grown up on the lake. And the weekend was quite celebratory for everyone! Not only was it the first family photo for the little lady, who is the first grandchild in the Valencia family, but it was also a birthday celebration for that gorgeous duo in white … they both just turned 60! Grandparents, uncles, cousins and aunts were also on hand to celebrate too! And although a little warm, this beautiful family made the most of it!

There were laughs, a few tears, but mostly, there were good times. Thankful they braved the heat together ... and I'm pretty sure they all jumped in the lake afterwards!

Rosy Mound Natural Area Engagement Session| Jackie & Nick

I met up with Jackie and Nick at Rosy Mound in Grand Haven, about 45 min from Grand Rapids, Michigan.

This park has been one of my favorites for years. It’s a bit of a hike to the beach but well worth it. The payoff is gorgeous untouched beach, tall grassy dunes, and that beautiful ol Lake Michigan that makes my heart so full.

I was so stoked when Jackie and Nick opted for this adventure with me. They are Michigan lovers like me and enjoy hiking and experiencing all that is Michigan.

Jackie and Nick met through the dating app Coffee Meets Bagel while living in Philadelphia. Their first date was actually on Valentine’s day and it was on from there!

Two years later, Nick planned a winter vacay where they headed up to their favorite place ever, Ludington State Park. At the bottom of the same dune they ran down a year prior, Nick asked Jackie to be his forever.

When I met up with Jackie and Nick, they were a little timid about being in front of the camera. And let me tell you, I feel this 100%. I used to run the other way when someone tried to take a photo of me. It’s a hard thing to be vulnerable and show major PDA in front of a camera with someone you barely know.

But as we got more into the session, Jackie and Nick completely opened up. They let go of their worries and just had so much fun with each other. And dang, did they absolutely rock it! What an amazing thing to see unfold, two people in love, being in the moment.

Next year they will be saying their “I do’s” at the beautiful Holland Windmill Park in Holland, MI and we are beyond stoked to be documenting their day. These two are truly so kind and I absolutely enjoyed hanging out with them and photographing their ridiculously sweet love.

Cheers to these amazing humans and Michigan adventures

Jake & Kaylea | The Milestone Barn

We headed to Michigan for Jake & Kaylea's beautiful country wedding at the gorgeous Milestone Barn in Bannister, MI. Only 50 minutes from Lansing, MI and about an hour and half from Grand Rapids, MI! We never shot at this barn before and absolutely fell in love with it!

I met Jake and Kaylea a year ago in Grand Rapids when I photographed their engagement session. These two are awesome in front of the camera and were so great to work with! Check out their engagement session here and learn more about Jake and Kaylea!

These two had planned to get married in the fall to avoid the heat but being that the weather sometimes seems to play games with us, it was the HOTTEST day of the year. Pushing nearly 100! Despite the blazing temps, Jake and Kaylea's day was so beautiful. The Milestone Barn was a perfect backdrop for their pure Michigan country wedding! Check out their wedding day slideshow here!

Brittany & Josh | Crystal Mountain

We headed up north to the beautiful Crystal Mountain in Thompsonville, MI for Brittany and Josh's lovely fall wedding. They said their "I Do's" at the Michigan Legacy Art Park next door to Crystal Mountain. It was the perfect backdrop for these nature loving soulmates. Their wedding was filled with sweet moments and a lot of of love! Congrats to Brittany & Josh!

Matt + Jillian | Sawyer, Michigan

How They Met:
Matt and I both graduated from Baylor University, but never met each other while we were there. Little did we know, we had a connection to each other through our mutual friends, Kim and Kel! While at Baylor, Matt played on the men's golf team and became close friends with Kel Presley, who played on the baseball team. They both moved to Dallas after graduation and became roommates. Throughout college I got to know Kel because he was dating Kim, his wife/one of my college roommates!A few years after college, the Presley's encouraged Matt and I to meet on a blind date. They spoke to us separately about each other, and knew that we would be a perfect match! Kel even came to a spinning class with me to prove how much he wanted Matt and I to "work out"! Although Matt and I were hesitant about going on another blind date, we both took a chance and are so glad we did!

The Proposal:
Matt and I had our first date at the State & Allen Lounge and easily talked for three hours! Within months of our blind date, I knew that Matt was the man that I, and many others, had been praying for. A year later, Matt proposed at State & Allen Lounge and flew us to Chicago to celebrate with my family that live there! Little did I know when we arrived, Matt flew in my sister and brother-in-law as well. The whole family spent the weekend together exploring the city and celebrating our engagement. To top off an already awesome weekend, the Chicago Cubs clinched the Division Championship!
